As a window into a lost world, the cover art of American pulp fiction of the 30s to the 60s is nothing if not fascinating.  Lurid, sensational to the point of breathlessness, the values informing it are very much the values of that age; i.e., deeply problematic but also informed by a curious, even touching, innocence.  There’s genuine artistry in its imagery which, seasoned with irony, is worth celebrating.
